Fresh Veggie Summer

What is the Fresh Veggie Summer Program?  This program is a collaboration of efforts between OPHS and Indy Parks with the support of Midwest Food Bank. It provides the opportunity to bring fresh fruit and veggies to our local communities in food desert areas.  During the pools scheduled hour of closure, we have staff and volunteers at the above locations giving out a variety of items. While the produce varies in availability, we have recently provided collard greens, tomatoes, watermelons, peaches, spring mix, hot peppers, salads, cauliflower, and green beans. In addition to the fresh veggies and fruit, people have also been able to receive a vitamin water or Gatorade to drink. Plus, other items to take home that may include bread, cereal, chips, boxed pasta meals, and more.
